California Prop 65 Information

California's Proposition 65 (officially the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to provide warnings to California residents about significant exposures to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Many of the steel, metal, and fencing products we sell contain or may expose users to one or more chemicals listed under Proposition 65. The specific chemicals and type of potential harm vary by product category. We have provided product-category warnings below to help you understand the potential exposures associated with our products.

Galvanized Steel Products

Includes: chain link fence and fabric, temporary fence panels, galvanized pipe and posts, post caps, fittings (bands, bolts, tension bars, brace bands, rail ends, fence ties), gates, and galvanized wire.

Galvanized coatings may contain trace amounts of lead and cadmium as byproducts of the galvanizing process. Includes: ornamental iron fence panels, steel gates, steel posts, carbon steel components, and raw steel materials.

Reducing Your Exposure

For products that may expose you to listed chemicals through dust or fumes generated during cutting, welding, grinding, or installation, the following precautions can help reduce your exposure:

Work in well-ventilated areas or use local exhaust ventilation when cutting, grinding, or welding metal products.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, gloves, and eye protection.
Wash hands thoroughly after handling metal products, especially before eating, drinking, or smoking.
Avoid generating unnecessary dust when handling, transporting, or installing products.
Follow all manufacturer safety data sheets (SDS) and installation guidelines.
